UNIBIO_ADENOSINE---The Science of Skin and Hair Rejuvenation
Adenosine is an endogenous purine nucleoside naturally found in every cell of the body. It actually plays a crucial role in a variety of biological processes, including energy production and signalling within cells. Adenosine is an increasingly popular ingredient in skin care and hair care high-end products.
In skincare, adenosine interacts with G protein-coupled receptors (A2A, A2B) to inhibit inflammatory responses, promote angiogenesis, increase blood circulation in the upper layers of the skin, and boost collagen synthesis, etc. This, in turn, delivers anti-inflammatory, soothing, brightening, and anti-aging benefits.
How adenosine works is as follows,

Note: VEGF: vascular endothelial growth factor;FGF-2: fibroblast growth factor-2;EGF: epidermal growth factor;IGF-1: insulin-like growth factor-1;TGF-β: transforming growth factor-β;PDGF: platelet derived growth factor;eNOS: endothelial nitric oxide synthase;Fb: fibroblasts;MMP: matrix metalloproteinase;MEK-1: mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase-1;MAPK: mitogen-activated protein kinase
Clinical test data on skin anti-aging
A study was conducted with 84 female participants aged 45 to 65, who applied a cream containing 0.1% adenosine and a placebo (without adenosine) over a period of two months.
After subtracting the placebo group, the effects in the adenosine group were recorded at week 0, week 3, and week 8, as follows,

Results:
ü Ra and Rz decreased by approximately 7% and 8% respectively at week 3, and remained reduced by about -8% and -7% at week 8.
ü Coarse wrinkles (115–600 μm), with a depth reduction of approximately 18% at week 3, and a maintained improvement of about 17% at week 8.
Conclusions:
Adenosine rapidly improves skin roughness and enhances overall smoothness. It prioritizes the improvement of deep coarse wrinkles, making it an effective anti-aging ingredient for targeting visible deep wrinkles.
In hair care, adenosine interacts with receptors to regulate various signaling factors, improves the hair follicle microenvironment, promotes the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, and extends the anagen phase to stimulate hair growth.
How adenosine works is as follows,

Clinical test data for hair loss prevention
In a study involving 110 male patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), they respectively applied 0.75% adenosine lotion and 5% minoxidil lotion topically, twice daily, over 6 months.

Patient satisfaction
Results:
Patient satisfaction was higher in the adenosine group compared to the minoxidil group.
In the adenosine group, hair density increased, with a rise in the proportion of thick hair.
Conclusions:
Adenosine exhibits excellent anti-hair loss and hair growth effects.
