Niacinamide, the amide derivative of Vitamin B3, is a precursor to NADH and NADPH. It participates in cellular mitochondrial energy metabolism, DNA repair, and regulation of cellular metabolism, etc.

When applied to the skin, Niacinamide can downregulate the expression of the melanin-transfer complex, inhibit the transfer of melanin from melanocytes to the stratum corneum, and simultaneously accelerate the turnover and shedding of keratinocytes, thereby achieving skin-whitening effects. 

By elevating intracellular NADH levels, it supplies energy to cells and promotes collagen synthesis, contributing to anti-aging benefits. By increasing NADPH levels, it prevents protein glycation and reduces skin dullness. It defends against skin photoaging by repairing UVB-induced cellular metabolic defects and DNA damage. It can regulate the adenylate cyclase signaling pathway(AC/cAMP-PKA) in sebaceous gland cells, reducing the secretion of free fatty acids and triglycerides, thereby controlling oil, reducing acne, and improving acne vulgaris. 

Clinically, Vitamin E combined with Niacinamide is used to improve facial pigmentation abnormalities and treat melasma.
